How admission works
The school’s board-approved lottery policy (PDF) sets out the process:
- Each spring the school holds two lotteries, one for Lake County residents and one for students from outside the county. The in-county list is used first.
- Preregistration opens on a set day in January and runs to the day before the lottery. The lottery date is one week after the school’s volunteer hour deadline and is posted on the school’s website and marquee.
- Siblings of enrolled students, dependents of active military personnel and children of governing board members or school employees may get preference.
- Kindergartners must turn 5 by Sept. 1.
- The waitlist does not roll over; families must preregister each year. Enrolled students do not reenter the lottery unless family volunteer hours are not completed.
