How the 2026 celebration worked
The city’s June 29 announcement and July 2 shuttle notice set out the plan for Saturday, July 4, 2026, which the city billed as a celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday:
- When: 5 to 9:30 p.m.
- Where: Waterfront Park, on Lake Minneola between East Avenue and Eighth Street. The city’s event page gave the address as 330 3rd St.
- What: live music, food trucks, bounce houses and family activities, closing with fireworks over Lake Minneola.
- Cost: free.
Getting there: the shuttles
In 2026 the city ran free shuttles from 4 to 11 p.m. between Waterfront Park and four lots:
- Clermont Arts and Recreation Center
- Palatlakaha Park, 1250 12th St.
- West Park
- Hiawatha Preserve
For smaller groups, free golf cart shuttles ran from Aurelia M. Cole Academy, 150 Pitt St. The city’s 2026 announcement linked these route maps: route map 1 (PDF) and route map 2 (PDF).
Fireworks at home: what the law says
Florida law allows the use of fireworks on three designated holidays: Independence Day, July 4; New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31; and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, under Section 791.08, Florida Statutes. A recorded homeowners association covenant that bans fireworks still applies, though an HOA board cannot write new rules to take the holiday right away.
The Clermont Fire Department answered six structure fires over July 4 and 5, 2026, one of them a garage fire it blamed on improperly discarded fireworks, the department said in a July 7 release. It asks residents to soak used fireworks thoroughly in water before throwing them away.
Vendors and sponsors
Food and non-food vendors apply through the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, which picks vendors and invoices them after approval. Applications for 2026 were on the event page; sponsorship questions go to the city’s events staff at ccody@clermontfl.org.
What this means for you
