New Year’s Eve is Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026. The City of Clermont has no New Year’s Eve party or fireworks show on its 2026 special events list; its public fireworks night is the Fourth of July. What Clermont does have on Dec. 31 is the last week of the lighted Enchanted Forest of Trees, and state law that allows backyard fireworks that night.

Fireworks: what the law allows

Florida law allows fireworks on three designated holidays: New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31; New Year’s Day, Jan. 1; and Independence Day, July 4, under Section 791.08, Florida Statutes.

  • The law does not override a ban in a homeowners’ association’s recorded declaration of covenants. An HOA board cannot adopt a rule that takes away the right, but a covenant recorded against the land still applies.
  • The statute does not replace local rules on fireworks. Questions about using them inside the city limits: Clermont City Hall, 352-394-4081.
  • City parks close from dusk to dawn under the city code, so Waterfront Park and the lakefront are not a place to set off fireworks at midnight.

Our Fourth of July fireworks page covers the city’s July show.

New Year’s Day closures and trash

The city has not yet posted its 2027 holiday or sanitation schedules. Last year is the best guide:

  • City offices closed on New Year’s Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, a city holiday.
  • Trash: Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, collections moved to Friday, Jan. 2, and Friday’s moved to Saturday, Jan. 3. In 2027 New Year’s Day falls on a Friday; check the sanitation holidays page in December.
  • Clermont Arts and Recreation Center was closed for New Year’s Day 2026, according to the city calendar.
  • Schools: Lake County Schools are on winter break Dec. 21 to Jan. 1; classes resume Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2027.
