Welcome to Clermont. Start with one question: are you inside the city limits? A Clermont mailing address does not always mean the city, and that decides who picks up your trash, who issues your permits and, sometimes, who supplies your water. The city’s city limits map and the Lake County Property Appraiser’s property search will tell you.

Driver’s license and vehicles

The state’s new resident page sets two deadlines:

  • Driver’s license: within 30 days of becoming a Florida resident. Apply in person; you take a vision test and may not need a written or road test.
  • Title and registration: within 10 days, with insurance from a Florida-licensed agent. Florida requires the vehicle identification number to be verified, and proof of Florida insurance is needed to buy a plate.

Florida counts you as a resident when, among other things, you start work here, enroll children in public school, register to vote, file for homestead or live here more than six months in a row.
