Code enforcement

Code Enforcement handles blight and nuisances, trash and debris on private property, illegal signs and work done without permits. Since July 1, 2021, Florida law has barred code enforcement from opening an investigation on an anonymous complaint, except where there is imminent danger or a public health, safety or welfare concern. To report a problem, email CityCodeEnforcement@clermontfl.org with the location, your name and address, and how to reach you. The Code Enforcement Board meets on the third Monday of every other month (January, March, May, July, September and November).

Animal control

The city does not list an animal control office of its own. In Lake County, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement Unit takes calls about stray, aggressive or neglected animals at 352-343-2101, ext. 5, as neighboring Lady Lake’s animal control page notes. The Lake County Animal Shelter is at 12280 County Road 448 in Tavares; the county’s community cat program answers at 352-343-9688.

Utility help

Depending on where you live, your water, sewer, garbage and stormwater may come from the city, Lake County or a private utility; Utility Billing at 352-241-7320 can tell you which. The city accepts payments from a federal water bill assistance program run through Lake Community Action Agency, 352-434-0554.
